We are a family of 4, hence the name "el Cuatro"!

California born and raised, our families prepared Mexican cuisine on a weekly basis. "Taco Tuesday" was a common theme for dinner  and eggs paired with tortillas for breakfast became the standard.

We often dreamt of one day owning our own restaurant serving up dishes of all of our favourite foods but, It wasn't until 2015, when we moved to New Zealand on a hope and a prayer, that we realised how much we longed for the authentic and unique flavours of Mexico. 

After spending nearly 40 years in California, travelling to Mexico and enjoying the iconic flavours from our neighbours to the south, we fell in love with the art of making the perfectly balanced burrito.  In 2017, the desire to want to share these flavours took over and our family banded together to create El Cuatro! 

Understanding and Tasting the beautiful flavours of the world by creating healthy foods for our family and friends is our passion. We care about the importance of organic farming and sourcing ingredients locally.  All of our ingredients are forged in New Zealand, and organic whenever possible.  Our goal is to share our passion for authentic Mexican breakfast with others and encourage the love for a meal packed in a tortilla.
